My name is Eliane NIYONZIMA (Lily) it’s a Kirundi name which means God is alive, I’m Burundian born in Bujumbura rural province I’m the fourth child in a family of six children three boys and three girls I thank God we got all saved we are Christian.

My childhood was not as well as other children,because both of our parent didn’t go to school it means it was very difficult for them to get a permanent job or a loan from a bank, so, to satisfie the need of all of us six children was not easy at all my Father had some herited lands from his grand parents to cultivate (by hands activities) that was the main source of income of the family, the worse thing beside that, was that my father was addicted to alcohol and tabagism it was not easy to keep even the small money he use to earn from farming.

By the age of six I got a chance to start primary school,I had to walk by foot between seven and ten kilometers every day hading to school with my brothers
and some of school mates, i didn’t study nursery school because the economical situation of our parents was not good, my grand brothers were also pupils it was not easy to pay for all of us school fees and schools materials even if school fees was not expensive in our country, by the age of ten I saw God changing the situation my mother got saved, after two years my Father followed and get saved too and then me and all of my brothers and sisters. our parents taught us to pray and to sing Christians song and that is how our family joy begins.

From that time, i had to attend Sundays schools always I prayed for my family, for my studies and God was faithful to me he helped me from grade one
to grade six and I passed national Examen which was not easy without failing from grade one. It was a time to get in secondary school, to change the uniform brief to be an adult, continuing to attend sunday’s schools,I fell in love with the way that one of my Sunday teacher use to teach and gives some advices to us,I wonder to be like her, to be a teacher and an adviser, I was 15,I start training on how to teach children in the church, and then I start also teaching at school in prayer group in which we use to pray every morning (morning glory) before studies and tell to our class mate about Jesus.

I saw God grace upon me along my journey of studing, some family members, our grand brother who has already accomplished school and some brethren in christ comes in help of school fees paying, from me to all of our brothers and sisters I tank God five of us have already accomplished school and three of them are now married. I did languages and my graduation is about languages but I didn’t get opportunity to continue with university even if I passed the national examen since 2020, after that I had no idea of what I could be,by the grace of God someone get interested in me after he was told about me by some of my friends and he asked me that I can help in teaching in nursery school, because I was interested in teaching as I do every day in Sundays school, i said yes and that person was the headmaster of TUMAINI School (Sylvester) I accepted a very small salary because I had no choice and i started in nursery, after one year of teaching the head master send me to teach grade 3, after grade 4 and now I’m in grade 5 i like to teach,to encourage and comfort student without hope especially those who had no help no parents I mean orphans now I work both in school and in the orphanage Hope in Action for Development it means in the day I teach in the night I’m in the orphanage for the children care,security and education to tell them also about Jesus in order to let them grow in the ways of God. My life mission is to tell to all children that I can reach, about Jesus love in order to build a generation of True Belivers and followers of Jesus Christ, to

help all the children without hope or parents to attend schools and to achieve their dream that they can’t struggle in their childhood and their growth as I did. I want also to help my parents to get out of poverty so that they can see the goodness of God through me before it gets late because they struggled as much as they can in order to make me who I’m today with all they had.
